Volunteering for Job Experience

Volunteer- Freely offering to do something without payment When we hear the word volunteer it's one of many things that pop into our mind. The first being, "That's a generous person" and the second being, "This person has too much time on his/her hands" and the third being, "I need the job experience" and the fourth being, "She/He must have to do the dirty jobs and love being a doormat." Sadly, one of these things has popped up in my head and numerous others when I say "I volunteer" either it be in a hospice as a singer that I can no longer do because of COVID-19 protocols and the lack of safety, being a museum tour guide or my new found position that I'm waiting to hear on, is a virtual speaker for classrooms. Job Searching, its been the constant fear and dread or in some cases the utter delight to find your place in the work force. But the latter for some of us Millennials like yours truly, finding work in my department has been a constant let down and the difficulties of helping raise someone else's children as they get their own life together and you are left with the pieces that's been on your shoulders since the age 13. Did I get too personal there? Yes. Is it profession in a blog post that is open to the public or that could be used by DCS or a Hiring Manager? Yes and no. Why? Because I need to let people know that are within my age group or even in the similar situation to know and understand that you are trying and you will make it through this setback. I, along with many Disney customers have received the dreaded e-mail that has announced local Disney Stores were officially closing. I woke up to this image as I was starting my morning and this has portrayed my 2021 as something that doesn't seem to get any better. A bit dramatic? Yes and I do not feel guilty or ashamed for feeling this way. Why? Despite the circumstances of a global pandemic due to the COVID-19 virus that may become an official, endemic. The Disney Store has been a happy space for me and has eased my anxiety by just being surrounded by things that I associate with the very few happy times in my childhood. I have never been to Disney Land or Disney World so the Disney Store is as close as I have ever came to it, along with watching vlogs on trips to Disney.
